Mr. Mischke grew up on a dairy farm near Watertown, South Dakota. His parents are Donald and Karen, and he is the fifth of six children. While growing up in South Dakota, he attended grade school at St. Martin's Lutheran School in Watertown, and high school at Great Plains Luther High School, also in Watertown.
Even though his mother taught piano lessons, Mr. Mischke did not take lessons from her. He took piano lessons from Mrs. Lori Eisenmann, from second grade through fifth grade (until Mr. Eisenmann took a call). Later, he took a year or so of organ lessons from Mrs. Karen Livingston, a teacher at St. Martin's. From seventh grade until excepting a call at St. Stephen's Lutheran School in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin in 2005, Mr. Mischke played organ regularly at his home church, and for other churches in the Watertown area.
Mr. Mischke graduated from Great Plains Lutheran High School in 2000. He and his classmates were members of the first class that completed their freshman through senior years at GPLHS.
From GPLHS, Mr. Mischke attended college at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. After finishing five years of study at MLC, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Secondary Education.
Besides teaching the sixth grade class, Mr Mischke also serves as Organ Director as well as the Junior and Senior Choir Director. Mr. Mischke enjoys music, watching sports, and playing golf. He has traveled as far away as Florida, Arizona, California, New York, and briefly into Mexico; but believe it or not, he has never been to Mt. Rushmore!
